He was born on December 31, 1945 in Buffalo, NY, to parents Valentine Decot and Joan Gibney Decot. He graduated from Amherst High School in Amherst, NY. In 1978, he moved to Florida and accepted a position as a field manager with Snap-On Tools Corp. for 25 years. He then was self – employed until retirement.
Bill was a great family man and loving father. He married Carol (Hughes) in 1967 and the couple had 2 children together.
Bill is survived by his wife Carol of the Villages, FL ; his daughter Bobbi Matthews of Jacksonville, FL ; and his son, Brian Decot of Hudson, FL. Along with his granddaughters, Megan Matthews, Scarlett Decot and London Decot. His brother Dennis Decot of West Valley, NY and sister Debbie Pawlicki of The Villages, FL.
Bill was a social, active man who was deeply involved in the American Legion, Vietnam Vets, Nascar and classic cars for the majority of his life. He enjoyed golfing and boating. His family and friends will always remember him as a friendly, outgoing and helpful guy.
A mass of Christian burial for Bill will be held Saturday, November 6, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 5323 E Co Rd 462, Wildwood, FL 34785. Following the mass of Christian burial will be a reception from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Dignity Memorial Life Celebration Center, 7134 Powell Road, Wildwood, Florida 34785.
