On Tuesday, May 17th, 2022, Thomas R McDonald, loving husband and father of two sons passed away at the age of 78. Thomas, also known as Tom, was born August 19th 1943 the son of Eugene and Grace McDonald. On January 7th 1967, he married the love of his life, Ann, and together they raised two sons, Thomas and Matthew.
He proudly served our country in the infantry of the United States Army. Tom was a member of the Knights of Columbus, achieving the rank of Grand Knight, Navigator and 4th degree. He was also a member of the Ancient Order of the Hibernians, once serving as the aide to the Grand Marshal for the Saint Patrick’s day parade in Manhattan. He worked hard most of his life as a telephone technician, and in 2021 he moved to the Villages in Florida.
Tom most enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and he treasured his relationships with his four grandchildren. He adored his family, having extensively researched his genealogy, even going as far as traveling to Ireland to pursue his research. Tom loved to travel with his wife Ann, having visited Germany, Switzerland, Hawaii, and Mexico as well as many other destinations.
Tom is currently survived by his wife Ann, his brothers James and Eugene, his sisters Adele and Geraldene, his sons Thomas (Maureen) and Matthew (Michele) and grandchildren Kevan, Quinn, Charlotte and Isabel, as well as his many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He is predeceased by his sister Eileen and brothers Francis, Robert, William and Paul.
A celebration of Tom’s life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Tom would like donations to be made to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital.
