Surrounded by loving family and friends, Tom passed away peacefully at Cornerstone Hospice Care after a courageous battle with multiple health issues.
Tom was born on June 1, 1941, in Montpelier, Vermont to Robert and Kathryn Henry (Carver). He spent most of his youth and wild younger years in Burlington, Vermont. After graduating from Cathedral (Rice Memorial) High School, he attended Castleton State College and served in the Vermont Air National Guard.
As a young man, Tom began a more than 25 year career at IBM where he was a respected top-level manager and was known for his dedication, hard work, and ability to inspire others. Tom went on to work for a number of other companies, including a stint as a Manufacturing Specialist in China. During his retirement years in Florida, he worked at Glenview Champions Country Club and later for the Golf Administration in The Villages.
Throughout his life Tom loved playing golf with his buddies, traveling on great adventures especially to China, seeing the beauty of nature through a camera lens, and sleuthing through genealogy and history in search of family connections. In later years, Tom became a seeker of truth and forgiveness and found his way back to the church. He felt a deep sense of peace, love, and connection with his Catholic faith and community. For many years, Tom served as an Eucharistic Minister and volunteered at local charities.
He will be lovingly remembered by Anne, his wife of 14 years, his children Lisa Jacobs and her husband David of Colorado, Beth Levinsky of Vermont, and Brett Atwood and his wife Nora of Minnesota. He will be forever missed by his grandchildren Nick and Jack Levinsky; Connor and Quinn Jacobs; and Marianna, Lucas, and Warren Jackson Atwood. Tom also leaves behind his stepchildren David Malinowski and wife Susan, Lisa Colvin and her husband Chris and seven step grand and great grandchildren. Tom cherished his relationships with his very special aunt Eileen Carver and his sister-in-law Maureen Henry. He also leaves behind his many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was pre-deceased by his parents, beloved brother John Henry, and son-in-law Jonathan Levinsky.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, December 3rd, at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Wildwood, Florida with a reception to immediately follow at Dignity Memorial Life Celebration Center. The Rite of Committal and Burial will be held in early summer at Merrill's Cemetery in Colchester, Vermont, and will be followed by a celebration of life reception.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Tom Henry's name to the National Breast Cancer Foundation and St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Cornerstone Hospice Care for their care and compassion.
