Nora Ruth Miller, age 93, passed away January 18, 2015 in Davenport Washington. Nora was born August 23, 1921 in Wilbur, WA to Raymond and Louella (Robertson) Portch. She grew up in Wilbur and graduated from Wilbur High School in 1939. Nora enjoyed baking (her caramel frosting was a legend in our family), cooking for her family growing beautiful flowers in the spring and summer and feeding all of her beloved quail and pheasants. She loved to watch Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, the Zags and the Seahawks. . She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Alter Society, Wilbur VFW Auxiliary, Eastern Stars, and the Rebekah’s. Most of all she loved her family and friends.
Nora is survived by her children, Rita (Bill) Buff, Sam (Guila) Miller, Debby (Jeff) Storms, Bob (Lee) Miller, and step children Raedine (Art) Delp and Jim (Pat) Miller, 11 grandchildren, 8 Great-grandchildren, 1 Great-Great Grandchild. Brothers, Dale (Joann) Portch, Dan (Darlene) Portch, Jim (Louise) Portch and sister Elaine Zeiler along with many nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by one son Larry Miller and four brothers, Bob, Jack, Bill and Ray and her partner in life Louie Menke.
The family would like to send their sincere thanks to the Staff of the Davenport Transitional Care Unit, Dr St Clair and Lincoln Hospital for their outstanding care of Nora, as well as her family, during the last year of Nora’s life. May all the love and care you showed her be bestowed upon you all. You do God’s work here on earth, you are all truly Angels of Mercy.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11am Friday, January 23, 2015 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wilbur with Father Kenneth St. Hilaire and Father Roy Floch officiating.
