Zachary Charles Smith, 64, loving husband, dad, and bapaw, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, November 24, 2024. He was born May 20, 1960 in Garden City, Kansas, the son of John Charles and Carolyn Ruth (Schreiber) Smith.
Zachary was united in marriage to Kristi Lynne Elting in September of 1983 in Wichita, where they have shared 41 years of marriage together. Soon after their marriage, the Lord blessed the two with their daughter, Brandi in 1990.
Zachary served on the Wichita Police Department for 22 years, where he faithfully served with honor and dedication. During his free time, his biggest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Zachary's favorite hobby was being outside and shooting his firearms, being known as a trophy marksman.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, John and Carolyn; along with his sister, Jan.
He is survived by: his wife of 41 years, Kristi; his daughter, Brandi and son-in-law, David Dunn; his sister, Chris Kegal; his brother, Jeff Smith; his three adored grandchildren; along with many cousins and friends.
Memorial Service will be held 10:00 AM on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Reliance Community Church, 11910 West Pawnee Street, Wichita, Kansas 67215. Inurnment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with: Wichita Pug Rescue, 1252 NW Liberty Lane, Benton, Kansas 67017.
