Winnie Marie (Grob) Reeves, 104, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014. Winnie was born September 5, 1909 to Charles and Lora Griffee in Blue Rapids, Kansas. She married John A. Grob on July 16, 1930 he preceded her in death in 1982. To this union were born three daughters, Jo Marie, who passed away, Sharon, and Lora. On May 21, 1984 Winnie married Jack Reeves who also preceded her in death. During WWII, Winnie joined the “Rosie the Riveter” industrial effort helping to build bomber aircraft, and on her 100th birthday she received a thank-you letter from the Secretary of the Air Force for her service to the nation. Winnie is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Noah) Welsch, Lora (Roger) Mackin; son-in-law, Robert (Ernestine) Brown; step-daughters, Lorretta Rauschen, Ruth Raupe, and Shirley Hensley. In 1928 Winnie started teaching in northern Kansas and retired in 1972 from USD 259-Wichita. She had taught in many schools around the state including; Dodge, Pleasant Valley, Waco, and Benton Elementary Schools. Winnie loved life and in particular she loved children. She took great joy in teaching children and her 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Visitation will be an hour prior to services; service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, at Hillside Funeral Home, 2929 W. 13th Street, Wichita.
