He was born on November 17, 1939, to William and Joanna (West) Whitaker in Tulsa, OK.
On July 15, 1967, he married Patricia J. Whitaker (Adair). William and Patricia lived in Tulsa, Cincinnati, and Goddard, Kansas before moving to Olathe in 2021.
William worked as a Design Engineer for Cessna until his retirement in 2003.
He enjoyed studying airplanes, tinkering, and building things in his garage.
William is survived by his loving wife, Patricia, sister, Nancy (Dan) Coates, son, John (Polly)Whitaker, daughter, Susan Whitaker (Andy Butkovich), and grandsons, Justin Whitaker and Evan Whitaker.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 2pm at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Hwy. 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209.
