William D. Paschal

William D. Paschal October 7, 1925 – August 11, 2017. Retired dentist, Wichita, KS. William was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Eva Paschal and brother Vincent Paschal. William is survived by his wife Marjorie Paschal; daughters Nancy (Jerry) Thomas, Jan Paschal (Jack Fitzgibbon); sons Alan (Julie) Paschal and Ron Paschal; and grandchildren Ashley Paschal, Brittany Paschal, Erica Paschal, Lauren Paschal, and Taylor Paschal. William was born on the family farm near Luray, KS and graduated from Osborne High School where he excelled in academics and was the Captain of the debate team. Upon graduation from high school, William joined the Army. He was an infantry scout and combat medic. Captured by the Germans after an intense night of fighting, he was a POW for 100 days. After returning from the service, William married his high school sweetheart and recently celebrated 72 years of marriage. William was a highly decorated soldier receiving notably the Combat Infantry Badge, Silver Star, a Bronze Star with a “V” for valor, 2 additional Bronze Stars, a Prisoner of War Medal, and a Purple Heart. He was recognized by the Army for gallantry in action and credited with saving the lives of many soldiers during a particular firefight. Upon graduation from KU William served as the milk sanitarian for the city of Lawrence and bacteriologist for the State of Kansas. William graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Dental School. In 1966 William opened a dental practice in Wichita, KS after practicing dentistry with Virgil Palmer in Haysville, KS. Funeral services will be held Wednesday August 16, 2017 at 1:00 pm with visitation 1 hour prior at Resthaven Mortuary. Memorial donations may be made to Kansas Honor Flight Inc. or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
