Walter “Bud” Hermann, age 91, of Wichita, Kansas went to live with Jesus on Saturday, December 3, 2022. Bud was born August 19, 1931. He was a very social person and loved having family and friends around. He was a very giving person, loved his family and gave the best hugs. His love for golf gave him the enjoyment of many friends.
Bud grew up in a 2 bedroom farmhouse with his 8 brothers and sisters. He began working at a grocery store with his mom at age 11. He joined Bleier’s IGA and enjoyed his career until he retired as co-owner in 1985.
He loved to laugh and joke around and had a nickname for everyone. He taught one of his nephews how to say "I love you" to people that you hold dear. That's the type of person he was; loving, caring and giving. He led a Christian life and valued his time with the bible which he read daily.
Bud and his wife Kurly were members of Immanuel Lutheran Church since they moved to Wichita in 1947. He was in the Navy for 4 years where he was the ships cook. Bud and Kurly always made sure the family was together during the holidays. Bud always prided himself on making the best dressing, ham and turkey.
He was a protective father to 3 daughters and always made sure they were safe and taken care of.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his spouse, Elaine "Kurly"; and siblings, Edwin, George, Leo, Boyd, Calvin, Margaret, Lila and Mary.
Bud is survived by his children, Karen (Woody), Kathy and Karla; his grandchildren, Melissa, Clinton, Ashley and Blake; his great-grandchildren, Max, Finn and Kallen; and numerous other family members.
