Ritchey, Victor (Vic) A., 96, life-long resident of Wichita died peacefully on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Homestead Health Center after a long and wonderful life, with his loving daughters by his side. Vic was born on October 22, 1916 to parents Earl Watson and Orpha Mae Ritchey on South Seneca when it was still just a dirt road. Vic attended Wichita Public Schools and Friends University. In 1941 he married Ruth Resing and raised three children, Clark, Vicki and Deanna. He worked for, then retired after 30 years of service from the Wichita Post Office where he served as Director of Personnel. Upon retiring he redirected his energy and talents by dedicating himself to helping others through volunteering and community service. He was always eager and willing to do whatever he could whenever he could to help others. With everyone he was mild and gentle in disposition, never harsh in expressing his convictions. He was a man of principle and quiet dignity. His greatest source of joy was his family, his church, and his service to others. He was generous beyond measure, never seeking nor desiring recognition or reward. He was an unpretentious humanitarian. As a result, the estate he left was not an inheritance of material value, but a priceless heritage of spiritual and eternal worth. Vic was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Orpha; his wife Ruth; and his son, Clark. He is survived by his two daughters, Deanna Scoville (Ken) and Vicki Meyer (Chris) of Boulder, CO; grandson, Steven Ritchey (Silvia) and great grandchildren, Marc, Alexandra, and Matthew of Geneva, Switzerland; grandson, John Ritchey (Heather) and great grandchildren, Bailey, Justin, and Emily of St. George, KS; granddaughter, Kirsten Keen (Bryce), and great grandchildren, Sophia and Sabrina of Westminster, CO; and granddaughter, Kimberly Arnett of Lafayette, CO. In lieu of flowers and in honor of his memory, you are invited to make a donation to a charity of your choice and/or give of your own time and talents to others less fortunate than yourself in Vic’s fashion. A memorial celebration of a life well and-richly-lived will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, October 3 at Resthaven Mortuary.
