Tommy Charles Atkins, faithful Christian, Devoted husband of 57 years, dedicated father, and beloved Grandfather went home to be with His Lord March 6, 2023 in Wichita, Kansas. He was born September 4, 1942 in Wichita, Kansas. He graduated from East High School in Wichita, Kansas in 1961. He then entered into WSU graduating in 1982 with a double degree in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. He had a prosperous career in writing computer programs for amusement rides for Chance Rides Manufacturing and finished his career at Baughman Company. His greatest joy was taking his wife to visit the regular riders of her bus and to find new riders to rides her bus to Church to hear the Gospel. Tommy was saved, baptized, and a member of Bethel Baptist Church for 47 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Lula and Seldon Atkins. Survivors include his wife; Judy Atkins, sons, David (Kathy) Atkins, Jon (Nayara) Atkins, siblings; Donna Fae Honafius, Bob (Sandy) Atkins, Vanda (Bobby) Baker, Dale (Judi) Atkins, grandchildren; Kenzie, Kiernan and Aleczander and many extended family.
A funeral service for Tommy will be held 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Bethel Baptist Church, 3600 W. 2nd St. N.,, Wichita, Kansas. Viewing will be held an hour before the service.
Burial will follow at Maize Park Cemetery, 13332 West 53rd St. N., Maize, KS 67101.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to "Bus Ministry" c/o Bethel Baptist Church.
