It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stewart Lewis Blurton, beloved husband, father, and Wichita Police Detective. Stewart’s passing was a result of a medical emergency on January 14th, 2025, at the age of 46. Stewart was born in Wichita, Kansas on September 15th, 1978.
Stewart chose a career with the Wichita Police Department and was hired on July 9th, 2001. He graduated from the Police Academy on December 7th, 2001, and served as a patrolman for over 20 years. One of the highlights of his career was joining the Wichita Mounted Unit on October 8th, 2020. Stewart was promoted to detective on February 4th, 2023, and continued his distinguished law enforcement career.
Stewart is survived by his wife, Catherine Blurton; children, Cameron (Aryona), Peyton, SJ and Rylee, and grandson Briar. Stewart is also survived by his parents, Lewis (Cathy) Blurton and Deb (Kevin) Reinhold; sisters, Allison (Jeff) Keller and Nicole (Dallas) Patterson, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and loving niece, Taylor. Stewart was also an amazing friend, leaving behind many who loved him. One of Stewart’s best attributes was his big heart and wonderful sense of humor.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 23rd, 2025, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at the Resthaven Mortuary & Gardens of Memory. The service will take place on Friday, January 24th, 2025, at 11:00 am at Central Community Church, 6100 W. Maple St., Wichita KS.
