Steven Bradford Jenkins, D.O., age 51 passed away on December 19th, 2011 surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation with family present Thursday, December 22, 6-8 PM followed by Services 10:00 AM Friday, December 23, 2011 at First Mennonite Brethren Church 8000 W. 21st St., Wichita, KS, 67205. Cremation immediately following the service. Steve graduated from Highland Park High School in Topeka, Kansas. He graduated with honors from Emporia State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Minor in Chemistry. He graduated from The University of Health Sciences with a doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine and he completed a residency in Internal Medicine at The University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita. He practiced Emergency Medicine, Urgent Care Medicine and Occupational Medicine. He was the former Medical Director at Spirit AeroSystems. He served in the US Army Reserves Medical Corps. He loved music and was a talented second tenor. He had a quick wit and great sense of humor. He was an avid aviation and military history enthusiast. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Thomas Jenkins. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years DeAnn, daughter Lindsey, son Matthew, mother Lois Jenkins, brother James Jenkins and his beloved cats Elmo and Kristi. A memorial has been established with the Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N. Hillside, Wichita, KS, 67219.
