Cloud, Stephen Lane (79), beloved Husband, Dad, Papa, Brother & Uncle passed away January 27, 2023. He was born September 20, 1943 to Leon (Ted) & Rosemary (Luchsinger) Cloud and spent his childhood on the farm in Osceola, MO making memories that have lasted his whole life. Steve started to school at the one room Brush Creek School when he was only 5. At age 10, he moved to a farm near Vista, MO. He graduated from Osceola High School in 1961. He worked at the Osceola Cheese Factory and Edward Press in the summers. He graduated from Central Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education- Social Studies in May, 1965. He taught World History and Sociology at Raytown High School Raytown, MO from 1965-1974. In the summers of 1968-1971 he worked at the H Roe Bartle Scout Reservation in the Kitchen, as Pool Director and Rifle Range Director. He began his love of running at camp. In the summer of 1972, he was working on his Master’s Degree at CMSU and the guy across the hall asked him to come to Wichita to help him move and to meet his sister-LeAne Briscoe- They met on August 13- were engaged on Oct 13 and married on Dec 30, 1972. In 1974, they moved to Wichita and Steve worked at Boeing as a Materiel Planner for 31 years. Steve received numerous awards for Excellence and he was on the Board of the Boeing Management Club.
They were blessed with a son, Cody and daughter, Kelsi. Steve enjoyed supporting the kids in their many activities and encouraged them in their sports and studies. The family enjoyed numerous vacations to many places. They attended Central Community Church and were active in the Quo Vadis, High Adventure and High Impact Classes as well as youth sponsors. He was an usher and choir member. He played on the church Softball and Bowling teams. He continued his love of running.
They have 3 grandchildren, Chloe, Mason & Kari. They have enjoyed traveling across the country and internationally and cruising with the kids and grandkids. Steve’s retirement in 2005 allowed him time for reading, traveling and cruising, and volunteering at the Library and Church. He volunteered at the Friends of the Wichita Public Library, was on the Board of Directors and headed up many of the Friend’s book sales.
He is survived by his loving Wife of 50 years, LeAne (Briscoe), Son, Cody & Wife, Melanie, Grandchildren, Chloe & Mason; Daughter, Kelsi Krahn, Granddaughter, Kari. He is also survived by his Brothers, Don & Wife, Jeannie of Osceola, MO, Fred & Wife, Gayle of Derby, KS; Brothers-in-law, Charles & Wife, Twila Briscoe of Roanoke, VA, Robert & Wife, Mary Briscoe of St. Petersburg, FL and numerous Nephews & Nieces.
Visitation will be Monday, Feb 6th from 6-8 at Central Community Church 6100 W Maple. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, Feb 7th at 2:00 P M at Lakeview Funeral Home.
