Stanley Ternes, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away surrounded by love on Monday. Born on July 31, 1955, he was raised by the most wonderful parents, who instilled in him a love of family and kindness. Stan had an incredible gift for connecting with people. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, always leaving a lasting impression through his warmth and genuine interest in others.
Stan grew up in Wichita, Kansas, where he attended Christ the King Catholic School and Bishop Carroll High School. He worked at Boeing and Spirit for over 30 years, retiring in 2010. Stan married Janet, his wife of 45 years, in 1979. They made their home in Wichita, where they raised their family and lived a beautiful life.
Stan loved the outdoors, and hunting was one of his favorite hobbies. He also enjoyed camping, water skiing, snow skiing, and discovering unique parts of Kansas. Always up for an adventure, whether it was family vacations or trips with close friends, each was filled with laughter and memories that will last a lifetime.
His family was his pride and joy, and his friendships spanned decades, each one full of love, laughter, and incredible stories. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and a life lived to the fullest.
Stanley was preceded in death by his son Jerome Ternes, parents LeRoy and Doris Ternes, brother Gregory Ternes, and nephew Aaron Ternes. He is survived by his wife Janet Ternes, son Justin (Brenda) Ternes, daughter Renee (Kevin) Hahn, and grandchildren Michael Green, Jacob and Cassie Ternes, Cooper and Brynlee Hahn, brothers David(Karen) Ternes, Steven(Melanie) Ternes, Kevin Ternes, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Stanley's memory will forever be cherished by his children, grandchildren, extended family, and countless friends. He will be remembered for his big heart and his ability to make everyone feel welcome.
A celebration of his life will be held where we will gather to honor the man who brought so much joy to all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Stan’s name to Victory in the Valley or St. Jude Children’s hospital.
Service will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at Hillside Funeral Home West. 2929 West 13th Street North.
Lunch at 11:00 AM at the Wichita Boathouse, 515 S. Wichita St.
