Sidney “Sid” Randolph Miller, 93, passed away peacefully in his hometown of Wichita, Kansas on May 3, 2024. He was surrounded by family and his amazing caregivers. On January 15, 1931, Sid was born to Randolph and Nina Miller (nee Kerr) in Wichita, Kansas. Sid graduated from Walnut Grove High School in Walnut Grove, Missouri, He joined the United States Marine Corps in December of 1949 and served during the Korean War before he was honorably discharged in March of 1953.
Upon discharge from the USMC, Sid studied for 3 years at Pittsburg State University. Sid then moved back to Wichita, working as a Journalist for the Wichita Eagle and Beacon and the Oil and Gas Journal in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Sid spent a significant portion of his life working as a counselor dedicated to helping those who struggled with substance abuse and working with various Alcoholics Anonymous groups. In his later years, he was a caregiver for his young grandkids. He was a loving father, father-in-law, and grandfather, always prepared with a quick joke or a great story. In his spare time Sid enjoyed writing (he kept an old typewriter at his desk) and photography. He also enjoyed time in nature (walking up three flights of stairs to his apartment until he was 90!) and was an avid Kansas University basketball fan (Go Jayhawks!).
Sid is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Jack Miller, Ron Miller, and Naomi Conway.
He is survived by his sons Wesley Miller, and Sanderson Miller, grandchildren Paul Miller, Eric Miller, Kara Rabago, Abby Miller, Tasha Miller, Preston Miller, Kylie Miller, Jordan Miller, and many nieces and nephews who will all miss him very dearly.
