Sheryl K. Gire

Sheryl “Sherry” Kay Gire was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend. She passed away on December 21, 2021, at home, with loved ones at her side, after a brief battle with kidney cancer.

Sherry was born to Ruth and Roger Sheppard on May 20, 1945. She graduated from Wichita H.S. East, and spent one year at Colorado State in Fort Collins. She worked at Boeing and retired from Cessna. Sherry was well known for and took great pride in her lush and colorful gardens. There was always a beloved dog or two by her side or in her lap. Family and friends loved her famous bierocks served with potato soup and homemade apple pie. She delighted in her grandchildren.

Sherry is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Ken Gire; children, Brad (Lori) Siegfreid, Sarah (Jay) Popko, Courtland (Katrina Sanders) Gire; 4 grandchildren plus one on the way; brother, Steve (Billie) Sheppard; and her loyal cocker spaniel, Snickers. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. We are grateful for the excellent care provided by the heroes at Ascension Via Christi and Heartland Home Hospice.
