With great sadness in our hearts, all of those who were lucky enough to know Ryan proudly remember his accomplishments, his ambitions, and the fullness he added to our lives.
Ryan’s greatness in character was identifiable early on. After overcoming the death of his mother Deborah Dozier, Ryan successfully graduated with honors from Buhler High School and even won the class 4A state title in golf.
Ryan went on to attend college at Kansas State University, where he found two of his most significant loves: education and his future wife, Alyssa Anderson. In conversation with Ryan, there was always a noticeable spark of passion when he began talking about either of these loves.
When it came to education, Ryan was as dedicated and determined as any of the finest educators you might have come across. After KSU, Ryan took a job at Wamego High School, and then leveraged that experience to obtain a job at Chester Lewis High School. Ryan had dreams of becoming a principal and was on track after obtaining his Master’s in Education in May and, as his boss, mentor and close friend, Leroy Parks, can attest to, showing absolute excellence in the classroom.
When it came to Alyssa, Ryan could not help but fall in love with someone that seemed to be quite the opposite. Ryan was a rule follower, a punctual person who bought into the 6 P’s for most tasks. Alyssa, a rule breaker, and opportunist for any kind of fun, brought just the right kind of spontaneity to catch Ryan’s attention. After being engaged in Manhattan in 2020, they tied the knot in May 2021, and it was easy to observe as they went through life with plenty of laughter and adventure, each and every day they loved and made each other better.
Ryan was a son, a brother, a best friend, a husband and proud dog dad. Whether it was a hearty giggle, a golf lesson on the green, or the perfect meme, Ryan brightened up the world around him.
Ryan was a true inspiration to us all, and we invite everybody to honor his life in a way in which he embodied it, to live life with purpose.
