Known as a true outdoorsman, Russel Rinke peacefully passed on Thursday, January 28th, 2021, at the age of 65, after a courageous fight with Covid. On August 19th, 1955, Russel was born to Herbert and Lucille Rinke in Wichita, Kansas where he was welcomed into a large family being the last of twelve children. In 1974, he graduated as Valedictorian from Derby High School before beginning a career in the tool and die division of Boeing/Spirit AeroSystems in 1979 where he continued as a dedicated employee until his retirement in June of 2020.
When not working, spending time with his children Connie and Jason, and more family and friends was foremost to his love of riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, and camping. He adored his two beloved bulldogs, George and Maggie, and was also a man who loved life and enjoyed making others laugh with his jokes. Russel was a lively spirit who left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to meet him and his passing is an extreme loss to his family and all who knew him.
Those living to carry on Russel’s legacy are his two children; Jason (Amy) Rinke and Connie Culver; siblings: Sunny, Dave, Wanda, Linda, and Ruth; grandchildren: Johnathan, Amber, Katlynn, Jasmine, Kylie, and Mikayla; great-grandchildren: Chevy and Ryleigh; mother of his children: Wanda Dowdy, as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and many friends. Russel is preceded in death by his parents, 6 older brothers, and grandson Christopher.
It’s been said, “It’s not about the destination. It’s the ride,” and Russel enjoyed the ride to each destination whether on one of his motorcycles, in his truck, or on the boat, being in the outdoors next to his family and friends was his happiness and now the memories you hold will be his legacy!
