Sidman, Ruby E. passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015. She was born on August 19, 1918 in McPherson, Kansas, to Jacob and Eva Wedel, the fifth of eight children. The family moved to Goltry, Oklahoma, where she graduated from High School. Ruby learned to play the piano at a young age, and played in the Mennonite Church for many weddings. She had a flair for art and produced many pastel drawings. She was known for her generous spirit, her strong faith, and her wonderful infectious laugh. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wichita for over 50 years. Ruby was co-owner of a restaurant chain in Wichita for over 30 years. She later worked for Gragg Furs, Shirley’s Boutique, and retired from Lakeview Gardens at age 89. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law Lynn Sabold and grandson Austin; brothers Roy, Marvin, Herman, and Arthur; sister Erma Weis. She is survived by her daughter Jacqueline Sabold; grandsons Jeff and Scott; sisters Rosalie Glidewell and Verbena Claassen and sister-in-law Evelyn Wedel; numerous nephews and nieces. Ruby was loved by so many and will be missed by all who knew her. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday April 4, 2015 in the chapel of First Baptist Church, 216 E. 2nd Street North, Wichita. Interment was at Lakeview Gardens Cemetery.
