Ruby Ilene Allmond

Allmond, Ruby Ilene, 85, of Wichita, Kansas passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday August 24, 2017 in Wichita. Ruby was born the daughter of Claire and Grace Cathey on November 24, 1931 in Wichita, Kansas. Ruby and Allen Allmond were united in marriage on July 16, 1950 in Wichita. Together they celebrated 55 years of marriage before his passing in 2005. Ruby was always known for her beautiful smile and infectious laugh. She was active in her church, always helping with whatever she could. She volunteered in the baby nursery for 20 years, helped with weddings and funeral dinners as well. Her favorite thing to do for her church and family was to make quilts. Over the years she was able to make several quilts for friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son; Robert “Bobby” Allmond sisters; Emma Jane, Claire. Survivors include her loving children, David Allmond of Wichita, Sharon (Chris) Dester of Derby, sister, Dean (Bill) Rosenhamer of Wichita, 12 grandchildren and __ great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday August 29, 2017. Celebration of life services will be 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday August 30, 2017 both at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E. 13th St. N., Wichita. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Wichita.
