Born to Bert & Carrie Murphy in Springfield, MO 6-12-1927. Roy served in the US Coast Guard, and worked for the railroad and Southwestern Bell Telephone. Later on, with his wife Ellen, they opened up Midwest Dive in Wichita, KS.
They were avid roller skaters, ice skaters, snow skiers, and their most beloved past time was scuba diving. They spent many years together traveling the world, sharing the love of diving with others and making many friends along the way. They were very involved with Kansas Water Rescue and training the Fire Department rescue teams. He and Ellen dedicated many years of their lives to the Red Cross, and helped many people along the way. Roy was preceded in death By Ellen in 2016, and they were married for 68 amazing years.
They were loved by people from around the world, and left behind their loved ones Don and Andrea Bradley, Shelley and John Betzen, and Austin Forshee. Memorial service pending.
