Ross L Kash

Ross Leo Kash, age 86, of Wichita, Kansas entered eternal rest on 8 December 2023. He passed peacefully with his children Karyn and Keith Israel and Mark Kash by his side and daughter, Brenda Cunningham on the phone.

Ross was born on a farm in Woodson County Kansas on 23 October 1937, to the late Lewis Owen Kash and Minnie Estella Fortner. Ross graduated from Yates Center High School in June 1955. He joined the United States Air Force on 10 July 1956 where he served four years of service. He was stationed on Okinawa Japan and at Maxwell AFB in Alabama where he separated on 09 July 1960. He received an honorable discharge and a good conduct medal. Ross will be buried with military honors.

Ross married the love of his life, Suzanne Downey, on 22 June 1963. They were married for 44 years before the Lord took her from this earth June 2007. They raised their three children: Brenda Sue, Karyn Jeannine and Mark Allen in Wichita. Ross retired from Beech Aircraft after 33 ½ years in October 1999. Ross enjoyed camping, traveling, playing games, rooting for the Green Bay Packers, and telling stories to anyone that would listen. He also attended Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church on a regular basis.

Ross was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and his two brothers, Norman and Paul. He is survived by his children: Brenda Cunningham, Karyn (Keith) Israel, and Mark (Schayna) Kash. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter. Long time family friend Lorna Barnaby, neighbors Gail and Chuck, and Pastor Stan and Phyllis Allen. He will truly be missed by his beloved Puggle, Garfield, who Ross rescued from the shelter. Garfield was a bright light in Ross’ life, and they made a good pair.

A graveside memorial service will be held Tuesday, 19 December 2023 at 2:00 pm at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, 1806 N. Oliver St, Wichita Ks 67208. A visitation will be held on 19 December 2023 from 1000-1200 at the funeral home located at 201 S. Hydraulic, Wichita 67211.

Pall bearers will be his grandsons: Justin Kash, Jordan Slaughter, Ian Kash and Garrett Israel. Honorary pall bearers are his grandsons Jarred Slaughter; Richard Stubba, and Mickey Stubba.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ross’ memory may be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital and United Service Organizations (USO).
