He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Madeline; daughter, Ramona; sisters, Wilma and Kathy; and step-granddaughter, Taylor.
Ronald is survived by four sons, Richard (Dana) Welsh, Robert, Randal, and Russell Welsh; daughter, Rebecca (Lon) Legleiter; 12 grandkids, and 28 great-grandkids.
Ron joined the US Marine Corp in September 1956 and was stationed at Camp Pendleton, California. A short time after, Ron realized he wanted the love of his life, Madeline Davis, to join him in California. They were married December 31, 1956. They moved to base housing and quickly began their family. During his time in the Marine Corp, Ron was promoted to Corporal.
After the Marine Corp, and moving back to Wichita, Ron began his 38 year career at Cessna Aircraft. He retired for a few years, and remodeled the family home. But he couldn't sit still, so he went back to the aircraft manufacturing industry for another 14 years before retiring for good.
One of the things Ron enjoyed the most was spending time with his family and friends, camping, water skiing, and fishing. Ron would spend hours and hours, weekend after weekend, driving the boat, teaching all his kids and their friends how to ski. What Ron hoped others have learned from him is to take care of your family, work hard, and make fun memories.
A Rosary Service will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 132 S. Millwood, Wichita, KS 67213. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at approximately 10:30 a.m. at the same location. Inurnment will then take place at Resurrection Cemetery, 1640 N. Maize Rd., Wichita, KS 67212.
