It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert Shingler, who left this world on October 7, 2024 to be with God. Robert was a devoted family man, a skilled pilot, and a passionate adventurer who spent over 30 years in the aviation industry.
Born with an adventurous spirit, Robert found joy in the skies and beneath the waves. He was an avid scuba diver, relishing the beauty of the ocean, and he loved the freedom that came with flying. His heart was as vast as his passions, and he cherished every moment spent with his beloved family.
Robert is survived by his two children: his son, Michael Shingler, married to Crystal, and his daughter, Stacie Bird, married to Wesley Bird. He took immense pride in being a father and was even more delighted to be a grandfather to seven wonderful grandchildren: James Johnson, Dylan Johnson, Katelyn Shingler, Caden Bird, Kelsey Shingler, Joseph Villa (married to Alison), and Keira Bird. He also celebrated the joy of being a great-grandfather to two precious great-grandchildren, Karoline Taylor and Lilyana Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Karen Shingler; his brother, William Shingler; and his parents, Bill and Betty Shingler.
Robert's love for his family was matched only by his devotion to his faith in the Lord. He found solace and strength in his beliefs and shared that love with all those around him. A lover of simple pleasures, Robert could often be found enjoying a slice of blueberry pie, a treat he savored with those he loved.
Robert Shingler’s legacy of love, adventure, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be profoundly missed but forever remembered for the joy he brought into the lives of his family and friends.
A celebration of Robert's life will be held on Friday October 11th at 1 pm at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209.
