Robert T. "Bob" Mercer

Mercer, Robert T. “Bob”, 84 of Wichita, KS passed away Sat. April 30, 2016 in Wichita. Bob was born Aug. 12, 1931 in Everett, MA the son of Elijah and Nellie (May) Mercer. Bob and Cindy have been sweethearts since the age of 12 years old and on Dec. 27, 1952 in Plaistow, NH they were united in marriage. Together they celebrated 64 years of marriage. Bob served honorably from 1949 to 1971 in the United States Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam eras. During his time in the Air Force Bob began as a machinist and later served for the Office of Special Investigation with the rank of Special Investigator. Bob had a great passion for carpentry. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Kim Elizabeth Rushing and 5 siblings. Survivors include his loving wife, Cindy Mercer of Wichita, children, Mark Douglas (Annie) Mercer of Clearwater, Susan (Wade) Brickley of Haysville, Linda Jean Mercer of Wichita, brothers, Ernie, Don, Wayne, and David Mercer, 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2pm on Sat. May 7, 2016 at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E. 13th St. N., Wichita. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Wichita. Full Air Force Military honors will be held at the committal service. Memorials can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
