Robert "Bob" E.L. Francis, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2020. Surrounded by family, following a stroke and pneumonia. Preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Christine Francis, Survivors: Wife of 57 years, Judy Francis; son, Michael Edward Francis of Joplin, Missouri; daughters, Shannon Francis and fiancée Steve Carty of Piney Flatts, Tennessee, and Erin Longnecker and husband John, Valley Center; grandchildren, Justyn, Collin and Summer Rose.
I would like to express my love, gratitude and appreciation to all the nurses, LPN’s and aides, that cared for Bob while he resided at Family Health and Rehab., 629 S. Maize Rd., and to the employees of Good Shepherd Hospice who made sure Bob was comfortable, for this we are grateful.
Bob’s passions were old cars, trains, old radios, old airplanes and his Cessna 172. He was a member of the Midian Shrine Antique Autos, the Kansas Cadillac Club, Kansas Pilots Association and the Thunderbird Club. He was also a long-time member of Westlink Christian Church (now, Pathway Church). Graduated from Virginia Polytechnical Institute in 1963 as a geophysicist and came back later for his master’s degree. While in Wichita he was Vice President of the KS. Pinto Association, President of the Goddard School Board and on the board from 1985-1989 and affiliated with other organizations. Bob’s contagious smile and friendly ways endeared him to his friends and to his family. He will be missed!
Visitation 4PM-6PM, Monday, August 31, 2020, and Funeral service 1:00PM, Tuesday, September 1, 2020, both at Resthaven Mortuary Chapel, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209. Bob will be laid to rest at a later date in Roanoke, VA.
