Bob honorably served in the Army Air Corp at Randolph Field Air Corp. After his time in the military, he attended Kansas State University starting out majoring in Architecture and later changing his major to Business. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) fraternity. His long term support through his philanthropy was recognized and appreciated by Kansas State University. In 1963 he hung his own shingle and started his company Robert E. Campbell, Oil and Gas Operations which he operated for 56 years. This is what drove him throughout his life and career.
Bob is survived by nephew Richard Hansley (Aurora), nephew Stephen Hansley (Shelley), nephew David Hansley, right-hand Madame Secretary of 39 years Joyce Buss (Carl), great niece Angelica Pizarro, great niece Debbie Hansley, great nephew Randy Hansley (Sarah), great nephew Jeremy Hansley, great nephew Jonathan Hansley and great niece Patricia Henderson (Andrew).
Bob was preceded in death by mother Violet Fisher Campbell; sister Virginia "Ginger" Marsh.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 22, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel, 12100 E 13TH ST N, Wichita, KS 67206. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob's memory may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 1820 E Douglas Ave, Wichita, Kansas 67214; and American Macular Degeneration Foundation, P.O. Box 515, Northampton, Massachusetts 01061.
