Fraley, Robert “Bob” LeRoy, 84, a lifetime Wichita resident, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016. Bob was born August 15, 1932 to George and Rosa Fraley in Wichita, KS, the oldest of three children. After graduating from Wichita East High School, Bob worked for McKesson & Robbins before joining the U.S. Marine Corps where he proudly served his county for 3 years and served in the Korean War. Upon his return to Wichita, he joined the Wichita Fire Department, serving as a Firefighter, Fire Prevention Inspector, Fire Investigator, and Chief Fire Inspector until he retired in 1985 after 30 years. Bob then went to work for USD259 Wichita Public Schools as a dispatcher until 1997.
Bob wed Wilma Jean Thornburg in 1956 and they were blessed with 60 years of marriage. They had three children: daughters Pam and Sandy and a son Bill. Bob enjoyed traveling, coaching Little League baseball, woodworking, sporting events, and doting on his granddaughters Kayla and Kristen Fraley and granddog Libby. He remained active with the Wichita Retired Firefighters Association and was a member of the Midian Shrine and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. Bob’s philanthropic nature and sense of humor touched many people.
Bob is survived by his wife Wilma; daughters Pam Fraley and Sandy (Brad) Woley; son Bill (Darla) Fraley and their children Kayla and Kristen Fraley and his sister Phyllis Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Rosa Fraley and his sister Katherine Kenney.
The family would like to extend their most sincere gratitude to his compassionate caregivers at Via Christi on Ridge Road and Kindred Hospice.
A visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Monday, December 5, and Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, December 6, 2016, both at Resthaven Mortuary.
