Bumgardner, Rita Muriel Gallion, longtime resident of Garden Plain, passed away in her home in Raytown, MO on May 21, 2013. Born 04/27/25 in Blackwell, OK, she married Richard Allen Bumgardner in 1943. The couple had 4 children and traveled extensively in the military, but settled in Garden Plain upon Richard’s retirement from the Air Force. A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and neighbor, Rita found joy in family and in nature. She was a pink Cadillac director in Mary Kay, member of Rolling Hills Country Club, and loved to paint, fish, golf and swim. Her gardens were refuges for wildlife; her home was filled with music. She will be missed and remembered always by her four children, Sherry Bumgardner, Beverly Leach, Sandi Ault and Rick Bumgardner; sons-in-law Doug Leach and Tracy Kerns; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A celebration of Rita’s life will be held 1 PM Saturday, 06/29/13 at Resthaven, 11800 W Hwy 54, Wichita, KS, 316-722-2100.
