Reatha Lea (Parks) Smith passed away on Monday May 30, 2022 in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 75. Reatha was born to W. Earl and Laura (Scott) Parks on September 18, 1946 in Russellville, AR. She is survived by her two sons, Curtis of Corpus Christi, TX and Brett (Trish) of Wichita, KS; grandsons Alec (Danielle), Jacob and Owen; great-granddaughter, Parker; sister Shirley Martin of Tonganoxie, KS; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Sharon Dodge; and loving husband of 40 years, William “Bill” Smith.
After graduating from Washington High School in 1964, Reatha attended Kansas City Kansas Community College where she met her future husband and fellow student, Bill. Together they attended Emporia State University graduating with degrees in Foreign Language and History, respectively. They were married June 1968 until his death in 2008.
During her career as an educator, Reatha taught Spanish and/or French in Junction City, KS; McLouth, KS; Neodesha, KS; Atchison, KS; Savannah, MO; Attica, KS and in 2007, retired from Dodge City High School, Dodge City, KS. Reatha lived on Grand Lake in Oklahoma until moving to Wichita to be closer to family in 2017.
Reatha loved God, family and friends and her beloved dog Laddy.
A celebration of life service for Reatha will be held Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 1:00 PM at
Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209.
