Randall “Randy” Keith Slusser, 67, passed away October 4, 2024, in Wichita, KS. He was born July 10, 1957, in Wichita, KS to Charles & Zella Slusser. Randy enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1975, after high school, and was honorably discharged in 1979. He enjoyed a lengthy career as a Journeyman Wireman spanning over 40 years wiring new houses, then later joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, where he worked at many interesting places and taught Apprentice Electricians at the IBEW Training Center for 3 years. After a long career, he retired August 2019.
Randy married Lynda Crain on November 30, 1980. They enjoyed 44 years together before his death. Together, they had 2 children, whom he was extremely proud of, and 4 grandchildren that were the light of his life. His son gave him the nickname of “Old Dude”. Soon his daughter joined in. Randy wore his “Old Dude” badge with honor.
Randy was preceded in death by his grandparents; his father, Charles Slusser; mother, Zella Slusser-Robinson; and stepfather, Bobbie Jo Robinson. He is survived by his wife, Lynda Slusser; son, Jared (Theresa) Slusser; daughter, Kathryn Slusser; sisters, Arletha (Mike) Farrell and Charla Geier; grandchildren: Trinity Slusser, Colton Slusser, Kai Slusser and Milo Slusser; step-brother, Bill Robinson; in-laws: Ronald (Bud) Crain, Karen White, Kristi Crain, David Crain; Aunt, Janice Hooper; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at Hillside Funeral Home West, located at 2929 West 13th Street North, Wichita, KS 67203. Committal will follow immediately after at Benton Cemetery, 13457 Old State Highway 254, Benton, KS 67017.
