Phyllis was born on May 16th, 1925 to Albert and Rose (Haeffner) Diede in Kaylor, South Dakota. She spent her younger years in Miller, South Dakota where she went to work for Bell Telephone Company. She ended up working for Southwestern Bell Telephone and later AT&T until her retirement May 6th, 1983. Phyllis was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America for many years and volunteered at the Good Neighbors Center for Olivet Baptist Church in Wichita.
The love of her life was her family. She loved being with her great grandchildren and attending all their sports events. Phyllis was a very caring and compassionate person, always putting the needs of others before her own.
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her family: Daughter, Wendy L. Bell-Ruth of Wichita, KS; Granddaughter, Brandy L. Shockley and husband, Clint of Wichita, KS; Her great grandchildren, Beau Shockley and his wife, Megan of Portland, Oregon; Hunter Shockley and his wife, Alicia of Wichita, KS; Brigham Shockley and Eden Shockley of Wichita, KS; Great-great granddaughter, Isabella Rose Shockley of Wichita, KS; Sisters, Inez (Sally) Chalk of Ft. Collins, CO and Velda (Brownie) Pitcher of Metaire, LA; Sister-in-law, Hazel Martell of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews along with countless family and friends who were blessed to know her.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; brothers, Elmer Diede, Ervine Diede and sister, Charlotte Barrett.
Due to current circumstances, a celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
