Baker, Phyllis Lorraine Stockton Ayers, born August 31, 1920 in Lamont, OK. to Bessie Vance Stockton and Roy Stockton. With loved ones around her, she entered into eternal life on January 14, 2011. She married Harry “Lee” Ayers, Hunter, OK. in 1938 and a daughter, Sharon Kay, was born to them. Lee passed away in 1963. Her parents and brother Eldon Leroy Stockton; brothers-in-law Carl Ayers, Sam Brancato and Curly Brown, Otho “Slim” Allwhite, Bert Harris and sisters-in-law Elsie Fern Ayers Allwhite, Edith Ayers Harris Henderson, Irene Ayers Hunley and Geneie Stockton preceded her in death. She leaves her daughter Sharon Ayers Anderson and husband Ron, Loveland, CO; sister Mary Catherine Brancato, Atlanta, GA., her brother Burnell Stockton, La Jolla, CA.; sisters-in-law Blanche Ayers Brown, Wichita and Sharon Merkle Stockton, Meade, KS. She is survived by her husband Emel F. Baker. They were married in 1965 and she cherished his children as her own: Lois Ginther and husband Mike of Panama, OK, David Baker and wife Wanda of Wichita and Don Baker and wife Benita of Wichita. She leaves grandchildren: Jon Anderson, wife Jennifer, son Curtis; Scott Anderson; Derek Byers, wife Meredith, children Wyatt, Shiloh and Ryder; Teri Ginther Barnes, husband Everett; Dawn Ginther O’Brien, husband Jason; PJ Ginther Harrington, husband Mike, daughters Sydney and Sophie; James Ginther, wife Laura, daughter Rachel; Stefanie Baker Peterson, husband Eric, daughters Bailee and Reaghan; Jennifer Baker Gragg, husband Jason, children Carter and Emmalee; Bridgette Baker; Brandon Baker; Sarah McConnell Rush, husband Nick; Samuel McConnell, wife Allison and Jesse McConnell. In 1951 she became a member of Bethel Assembly of God (now Bethel Life Center) in Wichita, KS. It was there that she met Emel and they married in 1965 after both had lost their spouses to cancer. She lived in Wichita for over eighty years, retiring from Mid-Kansas Savings and Loan Association. She also worked for many years for Henry’s as head cashier. After retirement, she and Emel enjoyed traveling in their RV spending many winters in South Texas. When they were in Wichita, they were very involved in the Osage Senior Center activities. She will be forever missed by all who loved and knew her. Services will be held Tuesday, January 18 at 3:00 p.m. at Resthaven Mortuary and Cemetery, 11800 W. Hwy 54, Wichita. with Rev. Tom Hawks, Glenn Park Christian Church, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be forwarded to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS. 67202.
