Peter Randolph Rogers, Jr, 68, of Wichita, KS, passed away on February 25, 2022. He was born to parents Peter and Mildred Rogers, on April 23, 1953, in Wood River, IL. He graduated from Staunton High School in 1971. Peter worked as a truck driver for 45+ years and retired from Vitran Express in 2013.
Peter enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He had a love for camping and fishing and spoiling his grandchildren. Pete enjoyed playing cards, working on trucks and cars, and participating in bowling, pool, and dart leagues in his younger days. He shared a love of professional wrestling with his dad, and they attended many matches in St. Louis and Memphis together.
On June 30, 1973, Peter married Fay Bailey in Staunton, IL. Together they raised three children: Kimberly, Randy, and Tom.
Surviving is his wife, Fay Rogers, and his three children: Kimberly (Jamie) Wing, Carlinville, IL, Randy (Serena) Rogers, Wichita, KS, and Tom (Kathy) Rogers, Wichita, KS. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Mackenzie, Clayton, Taylor, Alex, Shelbie, Averi, Alyssa, and Dylan. In addition, Peter is survived by his five siblings: Etta (Mike) Morgan, Katie Weaver, Janice (Joe) Hansel, Richard (Janet) Rogers, and Kris (Randy) Spann. Also surviving are his brother-in-law, Fred (Cathy) Bailey and sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Kent) Hardee, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Mildred Rogers, his in-laws, Floyd and Emmalieu Bailey and his niece, Mary Jo Rantanen.
The family has entrusted Lakeview Funeral Home with the arrangements. A visitation and funeral are scheduled for Monday, March 7 at 10:00 am at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E 13th Street North, Wichita, KS. Peter will be laid to rest at the Benton Cemetery in Benton, KS.
