Peggy S. McNeill, known affectionately as Peggy by her loved ones, passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on March 19, 2025, at her home. She was born in Sheffield, Alabama, on September 10, 1943, to her parents William Sanford Stone and Vera Pauline Stone.
Peggy was a devoted wife to her husband of 59 years, Thomas A. McNeill, Sr., who preceded her in death, along with her beloved infant son, and her parents. She is survived by her son Thomas McNeill, Jr., daughters Paula Kenyon, and Laura McNeill (Gail), as well as her grandsons Matthew Kenyon and Braden McNeill, and great-granddaughter Piper Phillips, a brother William Ronald Stone (Jan) of Alabama, sisters Sharon Stone Malone (Tony) of Arkansas, and Sylvia Stone Atwell (Bobby) of South Carolina and numerous other cherished family members.
Peggy dedicated herself to her work at Commerce Bank Trust Department, where she was respected by all who had the privilege of working with her.
Peggy will be remembered for her kindness, grace, and gentle spirit. Her ability to bring comfort and joy to those around her was truly remarkable, and she touched the hearts of many with her generous and loving nature. Her infectious laughter and caring nature made her a treasure to all those who knew her.
A service in memory of Peggy will be held at Hillside Funeral Home West, 1 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2025. A visitation will begin at 12 Noon until service time at 1 p.m. followed by her burial at Kechi Cemetary, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband. Her family invites all those who knew and loved Peggy to join them in honoring her life and legacy.
May she rest in peace, knowing she was cherished beyond measure and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
