Nancy F. Romaine, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021. She was born July 3, 1942 in Holtville, CA. Nancy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed by many.
For work, Nancy enjoyed crunching numbers as a bookkeeper and had been employed by the Saline Co. Sheriff’s Office as a deputy/dispatch.
She was a seamstress and a great cook. Her more beloved past-times included gardening, both vegetables/herbs and flowers, crafts, painting, mixed media and altered art. Closest to her heart was raising/training her German Shepherds while enjoying and sharing her love with other dogs and cats over the years.
While loving all things Christmas, Nancy was a California girl and most looked forward to the warmth and color of Spring and Summer. At any time of the year she enjoyed old movies with Bette Davis, Elvis, Elizabeth Taylor, John Wayne, Natalie Wood, etc., as well as music from the 50’s and early 60’s. She said that was “The best music on earth”!
Proud to be a career Army wife, Nancy volunteered with the Red Cross, Republican Party and was very interested in politics. She was extremely fond of President Donald J. Trump, and all that he represented. Nancy supported all Law Enforcement, as well as K-9 Units.
During her young married life, Nancy enjoyed watching the Baltimore Orioles, and once met Mickey Mantle. In her later years she was a true blue Kansas City Royals fan. She loved all the players but Mike “Moose” Moustakas was her favorite!
Notable times in Nancy’s life included meeting Charles Lindberg, being invited to the White House to attend a military awards ceremony and being present in New York City, with her family, for the ticker-tape parade for the first lunar landing and the first man to walk on the moon, Neil Armstrong.
Nancy’s life was very active with her marriage and her 4 children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would say “Our Mothers never leave us, ever”.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Nicholas "Nick" Romaine Jr.; grandson, Bradley A. Gallaway; and granddaughter, Faith Rose Romaine.
Nancy is survived by her sons, Nicholas J. (Lori) of Roxbury, KS, Dana (Karin) of Wichita, KS, and John L. (Stephanie) Romaine of Salina, KS; daughter, Lisa A. Romaine of Salina, KS; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
