Michael "Mike" John Williams, age 78, passed away March 27, 2021. He was born on April 3, 1942 to William H. and Zelna I. Williams in Pensacola, FL. Mike was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed.
Mike married the love of his life, Randi on October 8, 1965. They were married for 55 fun years and had lots of adventures together; including moving 17 times. In 1972 their daughter, Sabra was born. He loved his family, racing motorcycles and going to WSU basketball games. Mike was always proud of Ponca Military Academy, which he attended for several years as a young boy after his father was killed serving as a pilot in the US Navy. He joined the Army National Guard and was in the Reserves for six years and was called to active duty for the Topeka Tornado and the Martin Luther King, Jr. assassination.
Mike was talented in many aspects of life. He could fix anything from cars, to motorcycles, to equipment. He owned several different businesses (motorcycle shop, excavating company, print shop) and was also successful in some other careers such as ranching, real estate and used car sales. He got his private pilot's license and then later became instrument and twin engine rated. He loved to fly and was able to go lots of places, even for some of his jobs. When they lived in Bandera, Texas, he built (from the ground up) a family oriented “Texas Roadhouse” that had bands and he was the sound guy and managed the entire facility. He also ran a 600 acre guest ranch at the same time. They moved back to Wichita in 2004 where he worked in real estate until he eventually retired.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Mike is survived by his wife, Randi Williams; daughter, Sabra (Darin) Elliott; brother, Bill Williams; 4 granddaughters; 7 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 31, 2021 with visitation 1 hour prior, both at Resthaven Mortuary.
