Michael Wesley Griffitt, 54, a beloved husband, father, friend to many, and soon to be grandfather, passed away on September 17th, 2023, after battling cancer. His sense of humor, contagious laugh, kindness, and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Mike loved every dog he ever met, making people laugh, his many friends and family, and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Mike was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, and worked in aviation for 28 years. He was a tireless worker and self-starter. He began as an Avionics Technician at Cessna, earned a BBA from Friend’s University and an MBA from Newman University, and worked his way up to Director of Operations at Textron. Throughout his career he traveled the world, but always found his way home to Kansas.
He is survived by: his wife of 26 years, Tammy; his daughter, Amanda Griffitt (Spencer Burnett); his sons: Austin Taylor, Nickolas Griffitt (Maryann), and Jordan Griffitt; his sisters, Brenda Stafford and Karla Mayginnes; and his dogs, Duke, Amelia, and Ruby.
Funeral Service will be 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. US-54 Highway, Wichita, Kansas. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, in the Garden of Christus.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mike’s memory to the Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N. Hillside Street, Wichita, Kansas 67219.
