She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry L. Shawn. Daughters Bonnie Hageman (Mies), Trudy Milford (Mies) Son Tom Mies, and Stepson Larry Shawn.
She is survived by her sons: Ron Mies and wife Lisa of Kingman, KS, Roy Mies and wife Kristy of Belle Plaine, KS, step children: Vickie White and husband Terry of Wellington, KS; brother, Raymond Kerschen of Cheney, KS; niece, Kim Hicks and husband Kelvin; nephew, Kent Kerschen; numerous grandchildren; step grandchildren; great grandchildren; and many cousins.
Maxine graduated from Goddard High School in 1954 and attended Friends University for 2 years. She worked at Lear Jet and Cessna Aircraft with a certified government license in sealer bonding. Later in life she worked at Ulysses Hospital and Care Home, Kingman Hospital, Pretty Prairie and Kingman Age Home as an Assistant Physical Therapist. After retirement she managed and was associated with Indian Arts Shows of America. She also took care of her mother Ida (Orth) Kerschen for 22 years after her father's death.
A private family service will be held later at Resthaven Garden of Memory, 11800 W. Hwy 54, Wichita, KS 67209.
