Mary Marie Johnson

Mary Marie Johnson (Graham) was born on August 4th, 1941, in Perry, Oklahoma to William & Bertha Graham (Underwood). She attended the local elementary school and shortly after started working to help her mother take care of her brothers. Despite growing up during segregation, Mary never allowed race to stop her from loving or caring for everyone. It was during this time that she met her life partner, Lorenzo (Sonny) Johnson. Since their union was considered unlawful, they moved from Perry, Oklahoma to Wichita, Kansas in the 1960s.

On March 16th, 1963, Lorenzo and Mary were married and shared 57 years of love. Mary worked in housekeeping for over 40 years and retired in her late 60s. She loved spending time with her family & friends, cooking, shopping, and cheering on her favorite team as a loyal Dallas Cowboy fan. Above all, her passion was sharing God's word with as many people as she could as a devoted Christian. She was such a beautiful soul who lived her life by the Golden Rule. She treated everyone the way she wanted to be treated and was a blessing to all those she met.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Bertha (Underwood) Graham; husband, Lorenzo (Sonny) Johnson; sisters, Joyce Corr, Wanda Blocker, Regina Sharton, Carletta Slavens; brothers, Lonnie Graham, June Graham, Phillip Graham, Tommy Graham, George Graham

Mary is survived by her daughter, Debbie Bain (Johnson); sons, William (Dean) Graham, Ricky Johnson, Michael Johnson, Steven Johnson; grandchildren, Nikki Steele, Monica Graham, Alesha Graham, Ricky Mangrum, Melissa Eckels (Johnson), Lesha Jefferson (Bain), Jordan Johnson, Kaylie Baker (Johnson), Zachary Johnson, Cora Johnson (Johnson); siblings, Robert Graham, Janice Haefner, Kiss William; 23 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchild as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

Funeral service for Mary will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, December 7th, 2023, with a visitation one-hour prior at Lakeview Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Lakeview Cemetery in the Garden of Veterans, 12100 E. 13th Street N., Wichita, Kansas 67206.
