Mary attended Open Bible Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It is there that she met Ron Hamm. Ron's cousin David Boyd said, " If you don't take Mary I will!!" They married February 14,1960 and of this union came Shawna in 1964, Kevin in 1965, and Scott in 1968.
She worked soldering PC boards for Apollo 1 at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and after moving to Wichita in 1977, she went on to work for Beechcraft, retiring in June of 2002.
Mary loved to knit and do crafts. She could often be found watching old movies or even enjoying a camping trip. She loved Krispy Kreme doughnuts and collected Coca-Cola memorabilia.
Mary is preceded by her parents, James and Cecil and brother, James Whiting Jr.
She is survived by husband, Ron Hamm; sisters, Nancy Whiting and Jane Slaton; daughter, Shawna Semsroth; sons, Kevin Hamm and Scott Hamm; grandchildren: Landon Semsroth, Evan Hamm, Eric Hamm, Aaron Hamm, Lindsey Vick, Brett Hamm, Zachary Hamm and Leah Hamm; great- grandchildren, Lucy Hamm and Colton Vick; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Mary will be held Friday, April 18, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and a funeral service will occur Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 1:00 PM, followed by a graveside service in the Rose Garden. All at Resthaven Mortuary and Gardens of Memory, 11800 West Hwy 54, Wichita, KS 67209.
