Marvin Arthur Hardisty, age 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Andover, Kansas with his family present, on Friday, September 29, 2023. He was born September 2, 1937, to the late Leo Arthur and Mildred Opal Hardesty in Salina, Kansas.
Marvin, for many years was a plumber in Salina. For folks who were on hard times and had trouble paying, Marvin would do the work at no charge. He was such a generous person. Marvin started working at Beechcraft in Salina as a Sheet Metal Mechanic in 1973. He excelled at this work and was the go-to guy for anyone in the shop that needed help. Marvin retired from Beechcraft in 2000. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, being outside, coffee with friends and anything using his hands. He was also an avid music fan who played guitar and harmonica and would entertain the kids and grandkids with his songs. He spent much time reading his father’s Bible and knew he was going to heaven.
Marvin married the love of his life, Diana Lynn Lee on Feb 16, 1971, in Salina, Kansas and they had two daughters, Toni and Jennifer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Mildred Hardesty; brothers, Cecil Hardesty, David Hardesty and Gary Hardesty; and sister, Patsy Sutton.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 52 years, Diana of Andover, Kansas; daughters, Toni (David) Halverson of Rose Hill and Jennifer (Brian McConnell) Leibovitz of Andover; grandchildren, Brittany (Nelson Nieves) Bell, Garrett (Vanessa) Leibovitz and Jacob Leibovitz; step grandchildren, Jami Halverson, Kolton McConnell and Bailey McConnell; great-grandchildren, Alaia Nieves and Chloe Leibovitz; sisters, Audrey Hall of Pensacola, Florida, Joyce Montes of Salina, Kansas and Beverly (Refugio) Garay of Salina, Kansas; sister-in-law, Jewell Hardesty of Pueblo, Colorado; aunt, Freda Vogan of Salina, Kansas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
Graveside Memorial Service will be held 2:00PM, Friday, October 20th, 2023, at Andover Cemetery, 2438 North Andover Road, Andover, Kansas 67002.
