Marjorie was born July 5th, 1933, in Picher, Oklahoma, the daughter of George and Helen Wright Heidenreich. As a child her family moved a lot, going where her dad could find work. She grew up with the movies and especially loved the old westerns. Marge always said she grew up as an only child until she was 14, when her baby sister was born. She had fond memories of spending summers with her Grandma Nellie and also good stories of time spent with her Aunts Irene and Doris. Marge graduated from Hayden High School in Topeka and had already begun working for Southwestern Bell Telephone. What she thought was going to be a short term job turned in to a forty year career that she was very proud of. Marge retired from SWB in Wichita in 1992.
Marge had a great love for books and was an avid reader. She always loved to dance and is now dancing in heaven. She learned to water ski in her 40’s. She loved to go junking and could spend hours in the antique shops. She loved KU men’s basketball and each year could tell you the statistics about each player. While living in Lawrence she had season tickets to the KU women’s basketball games. After moving to Lenexa, she enjoyed going on the senior bus trips with her friend Betty.
Marge’s greatest joy was her family. She was always grateful that she could retire early and was able to drive all over spending time with her mother and with her grandkids. Marge loved to attend the kid’s activities, from ball games to pig shows. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. She was vivacious and never met a stranger, just ask her grandkids!
