We are heartbroken to announce that Margaret “Ann” Sanchez has passed away on August 14, 2022, at 90 years old. Born January 25, 1932 in Fayetteville, Arkansas she was the youngest of six siblings who affectionately called her “Butch” because they had hoped for a younger brother.
She was a long-standing member of the Wichita community, graduating from North High School in 1948 before going to Wichita State University. She worked at Fourth National Bank and Trust for 25 years.
She married Gerald Allison in 1954 and became a loving mother of 3. After Gerald’s passing, she fell in love and married Armando Sanchez in 1973. He lovingly called her “Pickle” and they lived larger than life and travelled together over the next 49 years.
After retiring from a long career, she found a new passion as an oil and watercolor artist. She was a proud member and served on the board of the Kansas Art Guild as well as the Wichita Oil Painters Society and won many awards for her work. Her artwork is hanging in private collections throughout the US and Europe.
In addition to painting, she had a passion for life. She had the most fun when she was surrounded by family and friends, with playing cards in one hand and a cocktail in the other.
She was preceded in death by her mother Grace L. Asher; her father Curtis C. Asher; her brothers Roscoe “Dockey” Asher and Fae W. “Abe” Asher; her sisters Frances “Fran” Buckley and Virginia “Jinny” Galloway; her first husband Gerald Allison; and her daughter Marla Rae Allison.
She is survived by her husband Armando Sanchez; her sister Carolyn McCaul her daughter Shelly DeThample and her husband Kevin; and her son Brad Allison and his wife Diane (of Sanger, TX); and her two granddaughters and their spouses Stephanie and Bill Fry, and Amanda and Jeremy Tillery (of Highland Village, TX).
Services will be held Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 1:00 pm inside the chapel at Resthaven Mortuary 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209 with an inside reception to follow.
