Sumner, Marcus F., 57 of Wichita, KS passed away on August 9, 2017 with his loving family by his side after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Marcus was born on October 7, 1959 in Wichita, KS to proud parents, Ferris and Norma Sumner. He was a lifelong resident of Wichita and received his education there graduating from West High School in 1977. He grew up a hard worker who eventually owned and operated his own business, Sumner Plumbing Co. for 19 years. The faithful people he served gave him the title “The Best plumber in Wichita” and many of them became lifelong friends. Marcus was a sportsman. He loved fishing, hunting, playing disc golf, canoeing, riding motorcycles and occasionally arm-wrestling. He fully enjoyed life and especially loved spending time with his family and many friends. Surviving to honor his memory is wife and partner of 30 years, Hilda Sumner; son, Ryan Sumner; father, Ferris Sumner; brother, Eric Sumner; numerous other relatives and friends; his beloved dog, Duke; and the star in his sky, granddaughter Adelie Rae Sumner. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; mother, Norma Sumner and brother, Kelly Sumner. A Celebration of Life will be 1 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2017 at Resthaven Mortuary with a luncheon following at Sedgwick County Park- Sunflower shelter. A memorial has been established for The Kansas Disc Golf Sport Scholarship Fund, 1330 S. Meridian, Valley Center, KS 67147.
