Marcella Mays Davis was the third child born to Lloyd and Mary Ethel Mays in Kinsey, Kentucky. They later moved to Middlesboro, Kentucky. Marcella accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized and became a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. Marcella later moved to Detroit, Michigan where she met Harvey Davis. Harvey left Detroit and later sent for Marcella to come to Wichita, Kansas. They married on January 1, which is also Harvey’s birthday. Two children were born to this union, Carolyn Ann and Tony Darnell.
Marcella did volunteer work for Meals on Wheels for twenty years. She worked for Brotherhood Preschool for over twenty years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for over seventy years where she was with Better Health Ministries.
Marcella was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, Harvey, her son, Tony Sr., her parents, three brothers, three sisters, one grandchild, and one great-grandchild.
She leaves to mourn her loss her daughter Carolyn (Floyd) Curry, grandchildren Brad, Eric, Ramonica, Latrisia, Rashad, Antonio Landry, Leland Colbert, Jeffrey Thurman, Tony Davis Jr., Jasman Davis, Justin Davis, and Simion Davis, thirty great-grandchildren, and forty-three great-great-grandchildren.
Sleep on, Marcella. We all loved you, but God loved you more.
