Lorraine started her career at Metropolitan Life Insurance in Ottawa, Canada. She then met Harry while serving as maid of honor for her friend Peggy Hoag’s wedding, he was best man for his brother Willard. They married July 18, 1959 and moved to San Diego, CA. In San Diego, Harry went to work at a family grocery store and Lorraine stayed home as they started their family. They had two children, Cheryl and Mark. The family moved to Wichita, KS to be closer to family, Lorraine went back to work for Metropolitan Life Insurance where she stayed until she retired.
Lorraine had a passion for music and brought that passion to Grace Lutheran Church as their organist for many years. Her love of life and helping others led her to volunteer at Grace Lutheran and Bethesda Thrift stores. She loved to travel all over the US and Canada to spend time with her family and especially her grandkids that she loved so much.
Lorraine was always happy and loved to have fun which filled her family and friends with joy and happiness just being around her.
Lorraine is survived by daughter Cheryl Maxwell (Brian); and son Mark Koch; grandchildren Abbie Smith (Alex), Alan Maxwell (Alysia), Sada Miernicki (Eli), Kelsey Stuber (Justin), Zach Koch; great grandchildren JR, Noah, Jasmine, Lexie, Ellie, Sienna, Esme, Olive and Aviana; and many special nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband Harry G. Koch; father Robert J. Letts and mother Katherine Letts; sister and brother-in-law Doris Cross (Jack); sister Elaine Letts and sister and brother-in-law Mavis Topley (Frank).
A visitation for Lorraine will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, 3310 E Pawnee St, Wichita, KS 67218. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Lakeview Cemetery, 12100 E 13TH ST N, WICHITA, KS 67206.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lorraine's memory may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 3310 E Pawnee St, Wichita, Kansas 67218; and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, Kansas 67202.
