Lavada Fay "Memaw" Rothe, 86, Mother, Secretary and Sales, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, April 14, 2024. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm - 7:00pm on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Resthaven Mortuary, Wichita. Funeral Service will be 10:00am on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Believers Southern Baptist Church, Wichita, followed by Procession Interment to Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Garden of Bruce Newton, Wichita. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made be made to: The Oxford Grand Senior Living & Memory Care and Believers Southern Baptist Church.
Lavada was a charter member and founder of Believers Southern Baptist Church. For 25 years she attended and taught Sunday School at Tyler Road Southern Baptist Church where she is fondly remembered by her students.
Lavada met the love of her life at the age of 14, Sammie L. Rothe, at the Capitol Hill Youth Community Center in Oklahoma City. The two were then united in marriage on December 25, 1954. They were married 55 years until his passing on October 30, 2010.
Lavada had a pure servants heart where she cared for her family and friends; including her mother and her husband as he progressed through a lengthy illness; along with her sister-in-law, Aunt Lillie. Lavada enjoyed traveling, spending time with her grandkids and attending their events, but most importantly spending time with her loving family, while cooking Sunday & special occasion dinners.
She is preceded in death by: her parents; her loving husband, Sammie; her brother, Avid Ray and his wife, Josephine; her sister, Loveanna Rolland and her husband, Jack; her brother, Gary Ray; her son-in-law, Lloyd Kelly, her daughter-in-law, Sandy Rothe; along with nieces and nephews.
She is survived by: her brother, Larry (Karen) Ray; sister-in-law, Molly Ray; her children, Sam (Jeannie) Rothe, Lana (Terry) Tillotson, Lisa (Rod) Wake, Steve Rothe; her 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends.
