Larry Paxson, age 71, of Wichita, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. Larry was born on September 22, 1952 in Wichita, Kansas to his loving parents, Harry and Beulah (Grover) Paxson. As a family they attend South Broadway Baptist Church. Larry attended school in both Wichita and Mulvane, graduating from Mulvane High School. He attended Friends University, where he received his Bachelor's degree in Computer Technology, and subsequently a Master's degree in Management Information Systems.
Growing up, Larry spent time with his brother, Phil, roughhousing, motorcycle riding, hunting, and spending time at the beauty shop with his Mother. He also enjoyed attending gun shows with his brother and friends.
In his freetime, he was an avid reader of Western novels and his Bible. Larry enjoyed watching Columbo, Perry Mason and Leave it to Beaver shows on the MeTV channel. He also relished watching the Rambo series.
He married Gloria, mother of his three sons, they later divorced.
In 1998, he married Dana in New York City atop the Empire State Building. Together they enjoyed time with family, craft shows, where he displayed his woodworking skills, dinner with friends and were active members of MG (Myasthenia Gravis) Support Group, where they became Leaders.
Larry and Dana were active members of NewSpring Church, where they attended bible study groups, and where Larry was ultimately baptized on November 13, 2022.
Preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter, Trisha; and two great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Dana; sons, Michael Paxson, Stephen Paxson, and Mark Paxson; brother, Phil and wife, Morgan Paxson; three grandchildren, Nathan, Shanaya, Mikayla; and extended family.
Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 16 at Resthaven Mortuary Chapel, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita. Graveside services will immediately follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Garden of Christus.
The family is requesting everyone wear turquoise in honor of Larry’s illness that he has fought for 18 years. ( Myasthenia Gravis Disease ).
